I must say number 2 is my favorite. Too many words on a slide drives me crazy! Everytime I see a slide riddled with sentences I have an urge to walk out of the presentation and or throw my pen at the presenter. It boggles me how many presenters I have seen recently that still commit this error. Ha! I must say number 2 is my favorite.

Agree. Knowing what the purpose of the presentation is will help a lot. You start with the big picture and then the presentation falls in to place easier. I'd probably move #6 (Know your audience) up to the top. I've been in a ton of meetings with advanced practitioners (of whatever) listening to a really smart person's standard 101 speech -- what a waste for everyone. I'd also add "start with the end in mind" -- if you know who you're talking to and what you want them to come away with (new world view, call to action, whatever) ... the rest is fairly simple.
